5 Ways To Stand Out on Your Next Zoom Call

It’s been months since we all sat down to this new normal of Zoom meeting after Zoom meeting after Zoom meeting. And while we have all quickly (or not-so-quickly) learned how best to navigate the joys of chatting with our colleagues, clients and kids’ teachers via video, there are still days when I find I’m just going through the motions, truly not adding the sort of value I know I can and should be giving. I officially succumb to the monotony of video calls—the awkward pauses, colleagues accidentally talking over one another and the inevitable “you’re on mute” conversation that seems to happen all too often.

So about two months ago, as I sat down to my third Zoom meeting of the morning, I had an epiphany. I realized I needed to step up my game as a colleague and make the next 30 minutes of all our lives a bit better and more engaging.
